Terms
These terms cover everyone who uses Candela: candidates taking a simulated workday, and the hiring teams who invite them. By signing in you agree to them.
Who we are
Candela is run by Candela Limited. In these terms “we” means Candela Limited and “you” means you, the person using Candela. If you use Candela for a company, “you” also means that company.
If your company has signed an agreement or order form with us, that agreement applies alongside these terms, and it wins wherever the two disagree.
What Candela is
Candela helps companies hire. Candidates take a simulated workday built from the hiring company's product, team and customers, working alongside the Coding Agent and simulated coworkers. When a candidate finishes, the hiring team gets the Report.
Candela is still changing quickly. Features and wording will change, and sometimes something will break. We will tell hiring teams about changes that matter to them.
Accounts
You must be at least 18 to use Candela. You sign in with Google, a magic link, or an email and password. Keep your sign-in to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it. If you set up Candela for a company, you confirm you're allowed to agree to these terms for it.
If you're a candidate
The workday is meant to show how you work, so do it yourself. Don't have someone else take it for you, don't paste in answers from other AI tools, and don't try to get around the paste block or the other integrity checks. Using the Coding Agent and the tools inside the workday is expected. That's the job.
Everything in the workday is simulated. The customers, coworkers, emails and systems aren't real, and nothing you do in it reaches a real customer or a real production system.
The workday is built from the hiring company's own material and our own scenarios. Please keep it to yourself: don't publish the brief, the task or the conversations, or share them with other candidates.
What you write stays yours. You let us and the company that invited you use it to run Candela, produce your Report and make a hiring decision about you. The Report goes to the hiring company, not to you, and the hiring company makes its own decision. See our privacy notice for how the Report is made.
If you're on a hiring team
You're in charge of the candidates you invite. That means you need a lawful reason to assess them, you need to tell them that Candela and AI are part of your process and point them to our privacy notice, and you need to handle their data under our data processing agreement.
Use the Report as one input to a decision a person makes. Don't reject a candidate on the Report or the integrity signal alone, and don't use Candela in a way that breaks employment or anti-discrimination law. The integrity signal shows patterns worth asking about, not proof that someone cheated.
Don't give us more candidate data than the process needs. In particular, don't put health information or other sensitive personal data into job descriptions, notes or invitations.
Fees, pilot terms and payment are set out in your order form. The material you give us, like job descriptions and details about your product and team, stays yours, and we use it only to build and run your workdays.
Acceptable use
Don't use Candela to break the law, to harass anyone, or to build anything harmful. Don't try to pull out the prompts, scenarios or scoring rules behind Candela, copy or resell the product, scrape it, or disrupt the service for other people.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. If we do, we will tell you why unless the law stops us.
Our part
Candela itself, including the product, the scenarios, the scoring and the design of the Report, belongs to us. These terms don't give you any rights in it beyond using it as described here.
The Report is produced by AI and it can be wrong. It's advice, not a verdict, and we don't guarantee any hiring outcome.
Service availability
We aim to keep Candela running, but unless your agreement says otherwise we don't promise a specific uptime. The service can go down for maintenance or because of outages at the companies we rely on, like Amazon Web Services, Anthropic or Supabase. If a candidate's workday is cut short because of us, tell us and we will help set up another attempt.
Liability
Candela is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, like lost profits or a hiring decision that didn't work out. Unless your agreement says otherwise, our total liability to a company is capped at the fees it paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, like liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you use Candela as a consumer, including as a candidate, your statutory rights are not affected.
Ending things
You can stop using Candela at any time. Candidates can ask us to delete their data, and we will do that with the company that invited them. Hiring teams can end their use as set out in their agreement. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we need to in order to protect the service or the people using it.
Changes
When these terms change we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects hiring teams, we will tell them before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales handle any dispute. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you can also rely on your local consumer law and bring a claim in your local courts.
